As a technology creator, I usually do the task of coming up with technology which allows better encryption and we do even have quantum proof stuff these days. But instead of coming up with new tech which allows circumventing the new laws or even coming up with technology that causes knots and logger heads with regulations. I decided to analyze the root causes and find solutions which are provided so that the issues are solved from the root. I hope you find the root causes and solutions found useful.

For centuries, human societies have attempted to solve crime through reactive measures: building more prisons, increasing police presence, and passing endless layers of legislation. Yet, crime, corruption, and societal decay continue to rise. This is because human systems are designed to treat the symptoms (the criminal act) rather than the root causes (the environment that produces the criminal).

As an ICT professional and systems architect, I view society through the lens of inputs and outputs. If the input is a flawed, exploitative system, the output will inevitably be crime and decay.

When we strip away all human economic theories, sociological models, and centuries of scholarly interpretation, and approach the Quran strictly as the literal, unaltered word of the Creator of human nature, we find something entirely different. The Quran is not merely a book of moral advice; it is a comprehensive, system-level blueprint. It does not just punish the “output” of a broken society; it re-architects the “input.”

By structurally eliminating the economic desperation, psychological alienation, cultural toxicity, and state overreach that drive human beings to crime, the Quran provides a divine masterplan for a crime-resistant society.

Part 1: The Modern Root Causes of Societal Decay

To understand the Quranic solution, we must first identify the modern diseases it cures. Today’s societal architecture generates crime through four primary vectors:

Economic Desperation: The hyper-financialization of daily life, compounded debt, and stagnant mobility trap the masses in precarity, making crime a perceived economic necessity.

Psychological Alienation: A culture of instant gratification and dopamine addiction degrades impulse control, while the loss of physical community spaces breeds extreme isolation and loneliness.

Cultural Toxicity: Hyper-consumerism and digital media force constant comparison, creating “relative deprivation,” status anxiety, and envy.

State Overreach: Lawmakers exempt themselves from the rules, imposing hidden inflation taxes, compounding state extraction, and mandating mass surveillance under the guise of security.

The Quran addresses each of these vectors with precise, unbreakable divine constraints.

Part 2: The Micro-Architecture of Justice (Eliminating Financial Exploitation)

Modern financial systems disguise exploitation as “normal business,” bundling hidden fees, compounding interest, and shifting risk onto the vulnerable. The Quran strictly dismantles these mechanisms at the contractual level.

The Absolute Prohibition of Riba: God forbids Riba not merely when it is “doubled and multiplied,” but as any stipulated increase over the principal in a debt contract (Quran 2:275-279). There is no “normal market rate” loophole. A loan (Qard) is an act of help; demanding an increase on it is an act of war from God.

The Debtor Dictates the Terms: To prevent lenders from hiding fees or inflating amounts, God commands that the person taking the loan (the debtor) must dictate the contract (Quran 2:282). This shifts the power of defining the debt to the most vulnerable party, ensuring the principal is exactly what they received.

The Neutral Scribe and Shared Cost: The Quran commands a neutral scribe to write the contract “between you” (2:282). Because the scribe serves both parties, both the lender and the borrower pay the scribe directly for their labor. This completely kills the modern loophole of bundling “service charges” or “processing fees” into the loan principal.

The Separation of Loan and Trade: If an institution wants to cover costs, take on risk, and make a profit, the Quran says: Do not issue a loan; engage in Trade (Bay’). In trade, market rates and markups are permissible because real assets and shared risk are involved.

Part 3: The Macro-Architecture of a Crime-Resistant Society

Once financial exploitation is structurally blocked, the Quran re-architects the broader society to starve crime of its remaining root causes.

1. The Economic Architecture: Eliminating Desperation

Mandatory Circulation of Wealth (Zakat): God does not rely on the voluntary philanthropy of the rich. He makes the purification of wealth a structural obligation: “And in their wealth there was a known right. For the petitioner and the deprived” (Quran 70:24-25). This guarantees a baseline of economic dignity, removing the absolute destitution that drives survival crimes.

The Prohibition of Hoarding (Kanz): Modern capitalism allows the ultra-rich to hoard trillions while others starve. The Quran strictly condemns this: “And those who hoard gold and silver and do not spend it in the way of Allah – give them tidings of a painful punishment” (Quran 9:34).

The Law of Absolute Measure (Mizan): To stop corporate exploitation (like underpaying farmers at harvest), God condemns Tatfif (defrauding): “Woe to the defrauders… Who, when they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss” (Quran 83:1-3). Exploiting a seller’s vulnerability is a punishable offense.

2. The Psychological Architecture: Curing Alienation and Impulsivity

The Antidote to Instant Gratification (Sawm): Crime is often a failure of impulse control. God mandates fasting to build Taqwa (God-consciousness and self-restraint): “O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting… that you may become righteous” (Quran 2:183). By voluntarily abstaining from lawful desires, the human soul trains the psychological muscle required to resist unlawful desires.

The Cure for Restlessness (Dhikr): Modern humans consume endless entertainment to escape anxiety. God identifies the actual cure: “Unquestionably, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest” (Quran 13:28). True psychological peace is achieved through connection with the Creator, neutralizing the void that addiction tries to fill.

The Eradication of Isolation (Jama’ah): Loneliness breeds radicalization and despair. God commands: “The believers are but brothers” (Quran 49:10). He mandates physical congregation, describing the believers as “a [single] structure joined firmly” (Quran 61:4), where the CEO and the laborer stand shoulder-to-shoulder, destroying social isolation and creating an inescapable web of community accountability.

3. The Cultural Architecture: Destroying Envy and Status Anxiety

The Condemnation of Material Accumulation (Takathur): The Quran attacks the cultural obsession with “more”: “Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you, until you visit the graveyard” (Quran 102:1-2). God strips the glamour away from hyper-consumerism, framing it as a fatal distraction.

The Redefinition of Nobility: To eliminate racism, classism, and status anxiety, God explicitly abolishes all human-made hierarchies: “Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous [highest in Taqwa] of you” (Quran 49:13). Status is determined solely by moral character, removing the humiliation of poverty and the arrogance of wealth.

Part 4: Binding the State (The Lawmaker’s Accountability)

Human lawmakers often write themselves exceptions. They exempt the state from the rules of fair commerce, taxation, and privacy. But in the Quranic architecture, the government is a trustee (Amanah) operating under the exact same divine constraints as the individual.

Prohibiting the Hidden Inflation Tax: When a state prints fiat currency, it silently dilutes the purchasing power of the poor. This is a violation of the Divine Balance (Al-Mizan): “And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance” (Quran 55:7-9). Debasement of currency is the ultimate Tatfif (defrauding the public), as the state demands full productivity but pays back in diminished value.

Prohibiting Compound State Extraction: Layering endless taxes, customs duties, and fees to drain the populace is condemned as consuming wealth unjustly (Quran 2:188). The Quran describes this systemic draining of a population as the behavior of tyrannical rulers and corrupters (Fasad) (Quran 28:4). The state’s right to extract wealth is strictly capped and transparent, not mathematically compounded to keep citizens in perpetual servitude.

Prohibiting Mass Surveillance and Breaking Encryption: Lawmakers frequently pass legislation to force tech companies to build backdoors or scan private, encrypted messages. The Quran issues a universal, unbreakable command: “And do not spy [wa la tajassasu]” (Quran 49:12). This command contains no loophole for “state security.” Furthermore, God mandates the sanctity of the private domain: “Do not enter houses other than your own houses until you ascertain welcome” (Quran 24:27). In the modern era, a person’s encrypted device and private data are the extension of their “house.” Forcing a tech company to hand over the keys, or mandating client-side scanning, is a digital violation of this divine sanctuary. Mass surveillance punishes the innocent for the crimes of the guilty, violating the principle that “no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another” (Quran 35:18).

Conclusion: The Divine Masterplan

When we analyze the root causes of crime today—economic desperation, psychological impulsivity, cultural envy, and state oppression—we see that human systems try to solve them after the damage is done.

The Quran, as the design of the Creator, solves them before they happen by altering the environment:

Micro-Contractually, it ensures no one is trapped by hidden fees or compounded debt by mandating the debtor dictates, the scribe is neutral, and both parties pay for the service separately.

Macro-Economically, it ensures wealth is legally mandated to circulate to the deprived (Zakat) and markets are strictly just (Mizan), removing the need to commit survival crimes.

Psychologically, it builds immense impulse control through fasting (Taqwa) and cures loneliness through mandatory physical congregation, removing the impulse and alienation that drive violent crimes.

Culturally and Politically, it destroys the obsession with material accumulation, redefines success as moral character, and strictly binds the state from spying on its citizens or secretly stealing their purchasing power.

The Quranic system does not just punish the criminal. It re-architects society so that the conditions required for exploitation and crime to flourish are systematically eradicated. For those who build systems, govern societies, or simply seek truth, the Quran stands not as a relic of the past, but as the ultimate, unaltered blueprint for human flourishing.

More detailed explanations.

To fully understand this concept, we have to look at it through the lens of systems architecture. The Quran is not just giving moral advice to “be fair”; it is designing a mechanical, step-by-step process for a financial contract that makes exploitation structurally impossible.

Here is a detailed breakdown of why this specific mechanism—having a neutral scribe write the contract “between you” and having both parties pay them directly—is a masterclass in eliminating disguised Riba (interest).

1. The “Between You” Principle: The Scribe as a Dual-Shield

In modern contracts, the lender (usually a bank or corporation) drafts the document. They have armies of lawyers to ensure the terms protect their interests, often burying hidden fees, compounding clauses, and penalties in dense legal jargon. The borrower is presented with a “take it or leave it” document.

The Quran flips this power dynamic entirely. In Surah Al-Baqarah (2:282), God commands that a scribe writes the contract “between you” (baynakum).

This phrase establishes the scribe as a neutral third-party security protocol that protects both sides equally:

The Shield for the Lender: The lender is protected from a borrower who might later claim, “I never took that money,” or “I already paid you back.” The scribe provides an undeniable, legally binding receipt of the debt.

The Shield for the Borrower: The borrower is protected from a predatory lender. Because the Quran mandates that the debtor must dictate the terms, the scribe is legally and morally bound to write exactly what the borrower states they received. The lender cannot secretly add a 5% “processing fee” to the document, because the borrower will simply dictate the actual cash amount they hold in their hands.

Because the scribe is acting as a mutual shield for both the lender’s wealth and the borrower’s rights, the service is inherently dual-purpose. Therefore, the cost of that service is a shared responsibility.

2. The Modern Exploit: Bundling “Service Charges”

To understand why the Quranic payment mechanism is so brilliant, we must first look at how modern financial institutions bypass the prohibition of Riba.

Banks know they cannot openly charge “interest” on a loan in a system claiming to be ethical. So, they use bundling.

The Scenario: You need a $10,000 loan. The bank says, “We charge a 3% origination/processing fee to cover our administrative costs and the scribe’s work.”

The Exploit: Instead of asking you to pay that $300 fee out of pocket, they add it to the loan. They give you $10,000, but your “principal” is recorded as $10,300. Or, they give you $9,700, but make you sign a contract saying you owe $10,000.

The Result: The bank has just made a guaranteed, risk-free profit of $300 on a loan. They have disguised Riba (an increase on a debt) as a “service charge.”

3. The Quranic Solution: Structural Separation of Contracts

The Quranic architecture completely destroys this exploit through the strict separation of transactions.

In the Quranic model, you cannot mix a Loan (Qard) with a Service Fee (Ujrah) in the same mathematical equation.

Here is how the mechanics work when both parties pay the scribe directly:

The Dictation: The borrower sits with the scribe and dictates: “I have received exactly $10,000 from the lender.” The scribe writes this down. The principal is now legally and divinely locked at $10,000 (Quran 2:279: “You shall have your principal”).

The Service: The scribe finishes writing the contract. The scribe says, “My fee for my time and labor to write this between you is $50.”

The Payment: Because the scribe served both parties, the $50 fee is paid directly to the scribe by the lender and the borrower (e.g., they each pay $25, or they mutually agree on another split).

Why this eliminates Riba: The $50 service fee is paid out-of-pocket, directly to the scribe, as a wage for labor. It is never added to the $10,000 principal. When the loan comes due, the lender gets exactly $10,000 back. They made zero profit on the loan itself. The cost of doing business (the scribe’s fee) was absorbed as an operational expense, paid directly to the service provider, not extracted from the borrower’s debt.

4. What if the Lender Wants to Make a Profit?

If a financial institution says, “I don’t want to just give a free loan; I want to cover my overhead, take on risk, and make a profit,” the Quranic system gives a clear answer: Then do not issue a loan.

If you want to charge for services, take on risk, and make a profit, you must engage in Trade (Bay’).

Instead of lending the client $10,000 in cash, the institution buys the asset (e.g., a machine or a house) for $10,000.

The institution takes ownership (and the risk of the asset).

The institution then sells the asset to the client for $12,000.

In this scenario, the $2,000 profit is not “interest on a loan”; it is a profit margin on a tangible asset sale. The service charges, administrative costs, and profit are built into the price of the asset, not bundled into a debt.

Summary

The command for the scribe to write “between you” and be compensated directly by both parties is not just a historical etiquette; it is a cryptographic-level security protocol for financial justice.

By forcing the cost of the contract’s creation to be paid directly to the scribe as a separate wage, the Quran structurally prevents lenders from bundling administrative fees into the loan principal. It ensures that a loan remains a pure, interest-free act of mutual help, while legitimately compensating the administrative work required to make the contract secure for everyone involved.

To understand this concept deeply, it helps to look at it through the lens of systems architecture. In software engineering, there is a fundamental principle called “Separation of Concerns.” You never mix the code that handles user authentication with the code that processes payments, because blending them creates security vulnerabilities and bugs.

The Quran applies this exact same principle to financial contracts. It strictly separates the Loan (the transfer of wealth) from the Service (the administrative labor of writing the contract).

Here is a step-by-step breakdown of how this “Financial Separation” acts as an impenetrable firewall against the modern “Service Charge” loophole.

1. The Modern Exploit: The “Trojan Horse” Fee

In modern finance, lenders know that openly charging high interest can be legally restricted or morally frowned upon. So, they use a workaround: they disguise the interest as an “administrative,” “processing,” or “origination” fee.

The Scenario: You need a $1,000 loan. The lender says, “We will give you the $1,000, but it costs us money to process the paperwork. So, we are adding a 3% ($30) processing fee to your principal.”

The Exploit: The borrower receives $1,000 in cash, but the contract states the debt is $1,030.

The Result: The lender has just made a guaranteed, risk-free profit of $30 on a loan. They have successfully disguised Riba (an unjust increase on a debt) as a legitimate “business expense.”

2. The Quranic Firewall: Three Layers of Protection

The Quranic architecture dismantles this exploit by forcing absolute transparency and separating the transactions.

Layer 1: The Principal is Pure (Data Integrity)

The Quran mandates that the borrower dictates the terms of the debt (Quran 2:282). This is the ultimate data validation step.

If the lender hands the borrower $1,000, the borrower dictates: “I have received exactly $1,000.”

The scribe writes down $1,000.

God’s rule in Quran 2:279 is absolute: “You may have your principal.” The principal is defined strictly as the actual wealth transferred. It cannot be artificially inflated by the lender’s internal business costs.

Layer 2: The Service is Decoupled (Separation of Concerns)

The act of writing the contract is not part of the loan; it is a separate service. The scribe is providing a skilled labor (writing, witnessing, ensuring legal clarity). Like any laborer, the scribe is entitled to a wage for their time and skill. However, this wage is for the service of writing, not for the act of lending money.

Layer 3: Direct, Peer-to-Peer Payment (Routing the Funds Correctly)

Because the scribe is writing the contract “between you” (2:282), they are providing a mutual security service to both parties:

The Lender pays the scribe to secure their wealth and ensure the debt is legally documented.

The Borrower pays the scribe to ensure their dictated terms are accurately recorded and to protect themselves from future fraud.

Therefore, the $30 fee for the scribe’s labor is paid directly to the scribe by the parties involved (e.g., they split it, or one pays it outright as a business expense). The money flows directly to the worker who performed the labor.

3. Why This Kills the Loophole

If the lender attempts to use the modern exploit—saying, “I paid the scribe $30, so I am adding $30 to your debt”—the Quranic architecture immediately flags this as a critical violation.

Why? Because the lender is no longer just lending money; they are using the borrower to subsidize their own business overhead. By adding that $30 to the debt, the lender is demanding $1,030 in return for a $1,000 loan.

According to Quran 2:279, demanding any increase over the actual principal handed over is Riba. The lender cannot legally or morally pass their administrative costs onto the borrower’s debt. If the lender wants to cover the cost of the scribe, they must absorb it as a cost of doing business, paid out of their own pocket, completely separate from the loan contract.

Summary

The “Financial Separation” is a brilliant, structural safeguard. By forcing the administrative costs to be paid directly to the service provider (the scribe) as a separate wage, the Quran ensures that the loan principal remains 100% pure. It makes it mechanically impossible for a lender to bundle hidden fees, processing charges, or disguised interest into the debt, thereby preserving the loan as a true act of financial help, free from exploitation.

This text represents the core “source code” of the Quranic financial system. As a systems architect, I look at this not as a list of moral suggestions, but as a brilliantly engineered set of rules designed to close every possible loophole for exploitation.

Let me break down and explain exactly why this specific architecture works so perfectly to eliminate financial oppression and, by extension, the root causes of crime.

1. The Fundamental Categorization: Loan (Qard) vs. Trade (Bay’)

The entire system hinges on a strict categorical separation.

Trade (Bay’) is for profit. You take on risk, provide an asset or service, and earn a return. This is fully permitted.

Loan (Qard) is for mutual help. It is a social safety net.

If a lender wants to treat a transaction as a “revenue-generating business,” the Quran says: Then do not call it a loan. Engage in trade, lease an asset, or form a partnership. The moment you label it a “loan” but attach business-like fees or profits to it, you corrupt the category. You are using the guise of “help” to extract profit, which is the exact definition of Riba.

2. The Mechanics of the “Hidden Deduction” (The 100% Fee Trap)

The text points out a critical vulnerability: What if the lender says, “I won’t add the fee to your principal, but as a condition of the loan, you must pay my scribe’s $50 fee out of your own pocket”?

Let’s look at the math of this exploit:

The contract states the loan is $1,000.

The borrower is forced to pay $50 to the scribe to get the deal.

Therefore, the borrower only has $950 of actual, usable capital in their hands.

However, they are still legally bound to repay $1,000.

Why this violates the Quran:

It violates “not leave anything out of it” (2:282): The borrower dictated that they need $1,000. By forcing them to pay the fee, the lender has secretly altered the reality of the transaction. The true principal received was $950, but the debt is $1,000.

It violates “do not consume wealth unjustly” (2:188): The lender has effectively extracted $50 of value from the borrower without providing $50 worth of loaned capital. That $50 difference is an unjust increase. It is Riba disguised as a procedural requirement.

3. The Equilibrium of Shared Payment

The Quranic solution is elegant in its symmetry. The scribe writes the contract “between you” (2:282).

The lender gets peace of mind that the debt is documented.

The borrower gets peace of mind that the exact amount they dictated is legally locked in, preventing future fraud.

Because both parties receive a tangible, protective service from the scribe, the cost of that service is logically and justly shared. If they agree the fee is $50, they might each pay $25, or the lender might pay the full $50 as a cost of doing business. But crucially, that $50 never touches the loan principal. It is a separate, peer-to-peer transaction for labor.

4. The Three Pillars of the Divine Architecture

This brings us to the summary of the system, which functions like a cryptographic hash: if you change one variable, the whole system rejects it as invalid.

The Principal remains 100% pure: The data integrity of the contract is absolute. The borrower dictates the exact cash received, and that is the only number that matters for repayment (2:279). No hidden variables, no compounded interest, no “processing fees.”

The Service is compensated justly: Labor has value. The scribe is not working for free. They are paid a fair, mutually agreed-upon wage directly by the beneficiaries of their work (4:29).

Riba is structurally impossible: Because the administrative cost is decoupled from the debt and paid directly to the worker, the lender has no mechanical way to bundle that cost into the borrower’s obligation. The loophole is closed at the architectural level.

5. The Grand Synthesis: Starving Crime of Oxygen

The final paragraph connects the micro to the macro. Human laws usually try to stop crime after it happens (police, prisons). The Quran stops crime before it happens by engineering the environment.

If a person cannot be trapped in compounded, hidden-fee debt (Riba is structurally blocked), they are not driven to desperation.

If a farmer cannot be defrauded at harvest time (Tatfif is forbidden), they can feed their family.

If the state cannot secretly steal purchasing power via inflation or compound extraction (Mizan is mandated), the populace retains their dignity and wealth.

When you remove economic desperation, you remove the primary driver of survival crime. When you remove cultural envy and psychological alienation through divine metrics of success and community, you remove the drivers of violent and white-collar crime.

The Quran does not just say “do not steal.” It builds a society where the conditions that make a person want or need to steal are systematically eradicated. It is a complete, self-sufficient, and flawlessly engineered blueprint for human flourishing.

This section represents the “core source code” of the Quranic financial system. As a systems architect, I view this not as a list of moral suggestions, but as a brilliantly engineered set of protocol-level rules designed to close every possible loophole for financial exploitation.

Modern finance relies on obfuscation—hiding fees, blurring the lines between loans and investments, and using complex jargon to shift risk onto the vulnerable. The Quran dismantles this by enforcing absolute transparency, strict categorical separation, and a reversal of power dynamics.

Here is a detailed, step-by-step explanation of how these four mechanical rules work together to eradicate Riba.

1. The Absolute Prohibition of ANY Increase (The Binary Boundary)

The Modern Exploit: Human systems try to justify interest by arguing that a “small” or “normal market” percentage is fair, and only “predatory” or “compounded” rates are bad.

The Quranic Protocol: The Quran establishes a strict, binary boundary. A debt is either exactly the principal, or it is Riba. There is no middle ground.

Why it works: God’s command in Quran 2:279 is absolute: “you may have your principal.” The phrase “doubled and multiplied” (3:130) is merely a description of the horrific historical reality of the practice, not a threshold for permissibility. If God intended to allow a “small” increase, He would have explicitly stated it. By forbidding any stipulated increase, the Quran removes human subjectivity. You cannot argue that 5% is “fair” while 50% is “unfair”; both violate the binary rule of the principal.

2. The Debtor Dictates the Terms (Power Inversion & Data Validation)

The Modern Exploit: In modern contracts, the powerful party (the bank or lender) drafts the document. They control the variables, often burying hidden fees, compounding clauses, or inflated principal amounts in dense legal text that the vulnerable borrower is forced to accept.

The Quranic Protocol: God commands that the person upon whom the debt is owed (the borrower) must dictate the terms of the contract (Quran 2:282).

Why it works: This is a brilliant “power inversion” and “data validation” mechanism. The most vulnerable party in the transaction is given the authority to define the exact reality of the deal. If the borrower receives $1,000 in cash, they dictate “$1,000.” The scribe is divinely mandated to write exactly that. This prevents the lender from unilaterally inflating the debt or adding hidden variables before the contract is even signed.

3. The Neutral Scribe and Shared Cost (Decoupling Administrative Overhead)

The Modern Exploit: Lenders claim they have “administrative costs” or “processing fees” to prepare the loan. They then bundle this fee into the loan amount (e.g., lending $1,000 but recording the debt as $1,030), effectively disguising Riba as a legitimate business expense.

The Quranic Protocol: The Quran mandates a neutral scribe to write the contract “between you” (2:282). Because the scribe provides a mutual security service to both parties (protecting the lender’s wealth and protecting the borrower’s dictated terms), the cost of this labor is a shared responsibility.

Why it works: This structurally decouples the administrative cost from the debt itself. The scribe’s fee is paid directly to the scribe as a wage for labor, out-of-pocket, by the parties involved. It is never added to the loan principal. If the lender wants to cover this cost, they must absorb it as their own business expense. The moment a lender adds this cost to the borrower’s debt, they have increased the principal, which instantly triggers the Riba prohibition.

4. The Separation of Loan and Service (Categorical Typing)

The Modern Exploit: Financial institutions blur the lines between a “loan” (which should be a social safety net) and “trade” (which is a profit-generating commercial activity), allowing them to charge commercial rates on what is essentially a debt.

The Quranic Protocol: The Quran strictly separates these two categories. A Loan (Qard) is purely for mutual help. Trade (Bay’) is for profit, risk, and market rates.

Why it works: If an institution wants to cover its overhead, take on risk, and make a profit, the Quranic system gives a clear directive: Do not issue a loan. Instead, engage in Trade. For example, instead of lending cash with a fee, the institution can buy an asset, take ownership (and the risk), and sell it to the client at a transparent markup. In Trade, markups and fees are halal because real assets and shared risk are involved. In a Loan, they are strictly forbidden. You cannot disguise a commercial engine as a social safety net.

Summary: An Interlocking System

These four rules do not operate in isolation; they form an interlocking, cryptographic-level security protocol for financial justice:

The Debtor Dictates the exact cash received (Data Validation).

The Principal is locked to that exact amount, with zero increase allowed (Binary Boundary).

The Scribe’s Fee is paid directly to the scribe as a separate wage, never bundled into the debt (Decoupling).

If the lender wants profit, they must use Trade, not a Loan (Categorical Separation).

By designing the contract with these exact mechanical steps, the Quran does not just tell people to “be fair.” It makes financial exploitation and Riba structurally impossible to execute, thereby starving the economic desperation that drives so much of modern crime.

Part 2: The Root Causes of Modern Crime

When financial exploitation is removed, we must look at the broader societal drivers of crime. Modern society generates crime through a combination of economic desperation, psychological alienation, and cultural toxicity.

Economic Drivers: The broken social contract, stagnant mobility, and the hyper-financialization of daily life trap the masses in compounded debt and gig-economy precarity. When the legal path to survival is blocked, crime becomes a perceived economic necessity. Furthermore, the systemic exploitation of the vulnerable (like underpaying farmers at harvest or extracting wealth through oppressive taxes) breeds deep desperation.

Psychological Drivers: Humans are created anxious (Quran 70:19). Modern society fills this void with dopamine addiction, instant gratification, and endless digital stimulation. This degrades impulse control. Simultaneously, the loss of physical community spaces leads to extreme atomization and loneliness, driving people toward criminal syndicates or extremist groups for a sense of belonging.

Cultural Drivers: Social media forces constant comparison to the top 1%, creating “relative deprivation” and status anxiety. Society measures human worth by net worth and physical appearance. This hyper-consumerism, combined with an erosion of trust in institutions and a culture of online mockery and tearing others down, breeds envy, fraud, and violence.

Part 3: The Quranic Solutions to the Root Causes of Crime

The Quran does not just punish crime after it happens; it re-architects the environment so that the conditions required for crime to flourish are structurally eradicated.

1. The Economic Architecture: Eliminating Desperation and Exploitation

The Eradication of Debt Slavery (Riba) and Hoarding (Kanz): By strictly forbidding compounded interest and the hoarding of wealth (Quran 9:34), God eliminates the generational debt traps that force people into poverty and survival crimes. Wealth is only allowed to grow if it is actively circulated into the real economy.

Mandatory Circulation of Wealth (Zakat): God makes the purification of wealth a structural obligation, not voluntary charity. “And in their wealth there was a known right. For the petitioner and the deprived” (Quran 70:24-25). This guarantees a baseline of economic dignity, removing the absolute destitution that drives theft.

The Law of Absolute Measure (Mizan & Tatfif): To stop corporate and systemic exploitation, God condemns Tatfif (defrauding): “Woe to the defrauders… Who, when they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss” (Quran 83:1-3). Exploiting a seller’s vulnerability or a worker’s desperation to pay them less than their effort is worth is a punishable offense. The market must be perfectly just.

2. The Psychological Architecture: Curing Alienation and Impulsivity

The Antidote to Instant Gratification (Sawm / Fasting): Crime is often a failure of impulse control. God mandates fasting to build Taqwa (God-consciousness and self-restraint) (Quran 2:183). By voluntarily abstaining from lawful desires for a month, the human soul trains the psychological muscle required to resist unlawful desires (crime) the rest of the year.

The Cure for Psychological Restlessness (Dhikr): Modern humans consume endless entertainment to escape their anxiety. God identifies the actual cure: “Unquestionably, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest” (Quran 13:28). True psychological peace is achieved through connection with the Creator, neutralizing the void that consumerism and addiction try to fill.

The Eradication of Isolation (Jama’ah / Brotherhood): Loneliness breeds radicalization and despair. God commands: “The believers are but brothers” (Quran 49:10). He mandates the physical congregation (Salah) five times a day, where the CEO and the laborer stand shoulder-to-shoulder. This daily, physical architecture destroys social isolation and creates an inescapable web of community accountability.

God strips the glamour away from hyper-consumerism, framing it as a fatal distraction that ruins societies.

The Redefinition of Nobility: To eliminate racism, classism, and status anxiety, God explicitly abolishes all human-made hierarchies. “Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous [highest in Taqwa] of you” (Quran 49:13). Your status is determined solely by your moral character, removing the humiliation of poverty and the arrogance of wealth.

The Prohibition of Mockery and Defamation: Modern culture thrives on tearing others down to elevate oneself. God strictly blocks this cultural toxicity: “Let not a people ridicule [another] people… And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames” (Quran 49:11). By mandating the protection of human dignity, God removes the cultural triggers for revenge, social friction, and violence.

Summary: The Divine Masterplan

When you look at the root causes of crime today—economic desperation, psychological impulsivity, and cultural envy—you realize that human systems try to solve them after the crime happens (through police, prisons, and welfare).

The Quran, as the design of the Creator, solves them before they happen by altering the environment at both the micro and macro levels:

Micro-Contractually, it ensures no one is trapped by hidden fees or compounded debt (Riba) by mandating the debtor dictates, the scribe is neutral, and both parties pay for the service separately.

Culturally, it destroys the obsession with material accumulation and redefines success as moral character, removing the envy and status anxiety that drive fraud and corruption.

The Quranic system does not just punish the “output” (the criminal). It re-architects the “input” (society) so that the conditions required for exploitation and crime to flourish are systematically eradicated.

When we read the Quran strictly as the unaltered, divine blueprint from the Creator, it becomes clear that God’s laws do not just regulate the behavior of ordinary citizens; they strictly bind the State, the rulers, and the lawmakers.

In the Quranic architecture, the government is not above the law; it is a trustee (Amanah) operating under the exact same divine constraints as the individual. When modern lawmakers impose hidden inflation taxes, compound extraction, or mass surveillance on encrypted data, they are violating specific, universal Quranic principles.

Here is how the Quran, as a book from God, solves these three specific abuses of state power.

This section translates a complex macroeconomic phenomenon—fiat currency inflation—into the strict, binary framework of Quranic justice. As a systems architect, I look at inflation not as an unavoidable “side effect” of modern economics, but as a deliberate, engineered vulnerability in the financial system that the Quran explicitly outlaws.

Here is a detailed breakdown of how the Quran diagnoses and structurally blocks the “Inflation Tax.”

1. The Modern Exploit: The Invisible, Compounded Tax

In modern fiat systems, governments do not need to pass a law to raise taxes to fund their operations; they can simply print more money.

The Mechanism: When the state creates new currency out of thin air, it increases the money supply without increasing the actual goods and services in the economy.

The Result: The purchasing power of every existing unit of currency drops. The savings of the working class, the poor, and those on fixed wages are silently diluted.

The Exploit: This is a hidden, compounded tax. It extracts wealth from the populace without a single piece of legislation, without a vote, and without the taxpayer ever seeing a bill. It is the ultimate mechanism for the state to fund itself at the expense of the vulnerable.

2. The Violation of Al-Mizan (The Divine Balance)

The Quran establishes that the entire universe operates on a precise, divine equilibrium (Al-Mizan). God commands humans to maintain this exact balance in their economic transactions.

“And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance. That you not transgress within the balance. And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance.“ (Quran 55:7-9)

The Architectural Application: In economics, money is the ultimate “weight” or “measure” of value. It is the ruler by which all labor, goods, and services are measured. When a government prints fiat currency at will, it is secretly altering the length of the ruler. If a worker agrees to work for a “kilogram” of value (a specific wage), and the state or central bank artificially devalues the currency, the worker is now being paid for a “half-kilogram” of value. By manipulating the money supply, the state is actively “making deficient the balance.” It is tampering with the divine standard of measure, which is a direct transgression of Quran 55:8.

3. The State as the Ultimate Mutaffif (The Defrauder)

Because the state controls the currency, it uses inflation to commit the exact crime condemned in Surah Al-Mutaffifin.

“Woe to the defrauders [Al-Mutaffifin]. Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss.” (Quran 83:1-3)

The Architectural Application: Look at how the state operates in an inflationary environment:

When the state TAKES: It collects taxes, demands productivity, and requires compliance. It demands its “measure in full” from the citizens.

When the state GIVES: It pays for government contracts, distributes welfare, or simply returns the citizens’ own savings in a currency that has been debased. Because the currency has lost its purchasing power, the state is giving back less real value than it took.

The state is taking full, tangible value (labor and taxes) and giving back deficient, diluted value (debased fiat). The Quran explicitly declares “Woe” upon those who operate this way. Under strict Quranic law, a government that inflates its currency is not just making a macroeconomic adjustment; it is committing systemic, institutionalized Tatfif (defrauding).

4. The Divine Solution: Money Must Represent Real Value

How does the Quran prevent the state from committing this hidden theft? By redefining what money actually is.

“…But Allah has permitted trade and has forbidden interest…” (Quran 2:275)

The Architectural Application: In the Quranic economy, wealth and money cannot be created out of thin air (which is a macro-level form of Riba and deception). Money must be a byproduct of real, tangible trade (historically, gold and silver, or assets with intrinsic value).

You cannot print gold.

You cannot print silver.

You cannot print a tangible asset without actually manufacturing or acquiring it.

By tying the “measure” of wealth to real, finite assets generated through legitimate trade, the Quran structurally removes the state’s ability to inflate the currency. The “ruler” cannot be secretly shrunk because the standard of measure is tied to physical reality, not the arbitrary decree of a central bank.

Summary

By viewing inflation through the lens of the Quran, we strip away the complex economic jargon used to justify it.

Inflation is not a “natural economic cycle.” It is the state deliberately “making deficient the balance” (55:8) and committing institutionalized Tatfif (83:1-3). It is a hidden theft of purchasing power that preys on the poor. The Quranic solution is to mandate that the “weight” of money remains just and intact by tying it strictly to real, tangible value generated through lawful trade, thereby making the inflation tax mechanically impossible to execute.

This section addresses one of the most pervasive, yet rarely challenged, mechanisms of modern state control: the unbounded extraction of wealth through layered, compounding taxation. As a systems architect, I view modern tax codes not merely as civic obligations, but as complex, unbounded extraction algorithms designed to siphon wealth at every node of value creation.

The Quran provides a strict architectural patch for this exploit, redefining the state’s relationship to the wealth of its citizens. Here is a detailed breakdown of how the Quran diagnoses and structurally blocks oppressive state extraction.

1. The Modern Exploit: The Unbounded Extraction Algorithm

In modern fiat systems, the state does not rely on a single tax. It layers them: income tax on the earner, corporate tax on the business, sales tax on the transaction, property tax on the land, and customs duties on the transit of goods.

The Mechanism: Every time wealth changes hands or is generated, the state extracts a percentage. This creates a compounding extraction loop.

The Result: The citizen works, the business produces, but the state continuously drains a fraction of the value at every stage. This prevents the masses from accumulating capital, keeping them in a state of perpetual financial pressure and dependency on the very state that is extracting their wealth.

2. The Violation of Quran 2:188: Using the Law to Consume Wealth

The Quran explicitly condemns the use of the legal and political apparatus to unjustly consume the wealth of the populace.

“And do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly or send it [in bribery] to the rulers in order that [they might aid] you [to] consume a portion of the wealth of the people in sin, while you know [it is unlawful].” (Quran 2:188)

The Architectural Application: While the historical context of this verse mentions bribery, the systemic principle is universal: You cannot use the apparatus of the state (“the rulers”) to legally sanction the unjust consumption of the people’s wealth. When lawmakers design a tax code that layers compounding duties, effectively draining the livelihood of the working class to fund an bloated state apparatus or to benefit connected elites, they are executing this exact prohibition. They are using the “law” to consume a portion of the wealth of the people in sin. The Quran strips away the legal legitimacy of the tax code if its fundamental operation is unjust extraction.

3. The Pharaoh Archetype: State Extraction as Fasad (Corruption)

To understand the severity of oppressive taxation, the Quran provides the historical archetype of the ultimate oppressive state: Pharaoh.

“Indeed, Pharaoh exalted himself in the land and made its people into factions, oppressing a sector among them… Indeed, he was of the corrupters [mufsideen].” (Quran 28:4)

The Architectural Application: Pharaoh’s oppression was not just physical; it was deeply economic. He taxed the people heavily, hoarded the wealth, and forced them into labor to build his monuments. The Quran explicitly labels this systemic, state-sponsored economic draining as Fasad fil-ard (corruption/destruction on the earth). When a modern state extracts so much wealth through compounded taxes, customs, and fees that it destroys the economic vitality of its citizens, stifles enterprise, and keeps the populace in poverty, it is mirroring the Pharaonic model. The Quran categorizes this not as “governance,” but as active corruption on the earth.

4. The Divine Solution: The Capped Trustee Model (Zakat vs. Infinite Taxation)

How does the Quran prevent the state from becoming a parasitic entity? By strictly limiting the state’s right to extract wealth to a capped, transparent, and purpose-bound system.

The Contrast with Zakat: The Quran mandates Zakat, but Zakat is fundamentally different from modern taxation.

Modern taxes are often levied on production, income, and transactions (punishing work and trade).

Zakat is levied strictly on surplus, stagnant wealth (savings and assets held above a minimum threshold, or Nisab, for a lunar year). It is a fixed, capped percentage (2.5%).

The Architectural Difference: Zakat is not designed to fund an ever-expanding state bureaucracy; it is designed to force wealth into circulation and provide a basic safety net. Because it only applies to surplus wealth and is strictly capped, it mathematically prevents the state from draining the productive capital of the citizen.

The Ruler as Trustee (Amanah): In the Quranic architecture, the ruler does not own the populace or their wealth. The state is a trustee. A trustee only has the right to extract what is strictly necessary, transparently defined, and capped. The state cannot mathematically compound its extraction to keep citizens in perpetual financial servitude.

Summary: Preventing State-Induced Poverty

By viewing taxation through the lens of the Quran, we strip away the assumption that the state has an infinite right to the wealth of its citizens.

Compound, oppressive taxation is diagnosed as a violation of Quran 2:188 (using the law to consume wealth unjustly) and is categorized alongside the oppression of Pharaoh as Fasad (corruption on earth).

The Quranic solution is to redefine the state as a limited trustee. By mandating that state extraction be strictly capped, transparent, and applied only to surplus wealth (like Zakat) rather than compounding at every node of production and transit, the Quran structurally prevents the state from draining the populace. It ensures that the citizens retain the capital necessary to thrive, thereby eliminating the state-induced economic desperation that drives so much of modern societal decay.

3. Laws to Access Encrypted Data (Mass Surveillance)

The Modern Issue: Lawmakers passing legislation (like the UK’s Online Safety Act or the EU’s Chat Control) to force tech companies to build backdoors, scan private messages, or break End-to-End Encryption (E2EE) to monitor the populace. The Quranic Diagnosis: This is a direct violation of the absolute divine prohibition against spying and the sanctity of private domains.

The Absolute Prohibition of Spying: God issues a universal command that applies to the individual and the state alike:

“O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy [wa la tajassasu] or backbite each other…” (Quran 49:12) The command “wa la tajassasu” (do not spy) is absolute. It does not contain a loophole that says, “unless you are the government and it is for security.” Mass surveillance, scanning private encrypted chats, and building backdoors is the literal definition of state-sponsored spying, which God explicitly forbids.

The Sanctity of the Private Domain (The Digital “House”): The Quran fiercely protects the physical privacy of the home:

“O you who have believed, do not enter houses other than your own houses until you ascertain welcome and greet their inhabitants.“ (Quran 24:27) In the modern era, a person’s encrypted device, their private messages, and their digital data are the extension of their “house.” It is their private sanctuary. Forcing a tech company to hand over the keys to that sanctuary, or forcing an app to scan the inside of that “house” via Client-Side Scanning, is a digital violation of Quran 24:27.

Individual Responsibility vs. Collective Punishment: Lawmakers justify mass surveillance by saying, “We have to scan everyone to catch the terrorists/child abusers.” The Quran rejects the punishment or invasion of the innocent for the crimes of the guilty:

“And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another.” (Quran 35:18) Stripping the privacy of a billion innocent people to catch a thousand criminals is a violation of divine justice. The Quran demands that investigation be targeted and evidence-based, not a blanket invasion of the innocent.

Summary: The State is Bound by the Architecture

When human lawmakers write laws, they often write themselves exceptions. They exempt the state from the rules of inflation, they exempt the government from the limits of taxation, and they exempt intelligence agencies from the right to privacy.

But when we look at the Quran as the word of God, there are no state exemptions.

Economically, the state is forbidden from secretly stealing purchasing power through inflation, because that violates the Divine Balance (Al-Mizan) and constitutes Tatfif (defrauding the public).

Fiscally, the state is forbidden from compounding taxes to drain the populace, because that is consuming wealth unjustly and acting as a corrupter (Fasad) rather than a trustee.

Digitally, the state is forbidden from breaking encryption or mass-scanning private data, because God issued a universal, unbreakable command: “Do not spy” (49:12), and He mandated the sanctity of the private domain (24:27).

The Quranic solution to state overreach is to recognize that the Creator’s law is higher than the lawmaker’s law. A government that inflates the currency, compounds taxes, and spies on its citizens is not “maintaining order”; it is committing the exact same sins of oppression, defrauding, and spying that it punishes in ordinary citizens.

📜 Disclaimer & Intent

This framework reflects my personal understanding of the Quranic concepts not a definitive or authoritative doctrine.

🌿 On Diverse Understanding

Different believers may perceive, interpret, and experience these levels differently—based on their knowledge, life experience, spiritual state (hal), and the guidance Allah has bestowed upon them.

The Quran is oceanic in meaning: “If the sea were ink for [writing] the words of my Lord, the sea would be exhausted before the words of my Lord were exhausted…” (18:109).
