Position Title: Direct Entry Captain – Embraer 195 (TR / NTR)

Position Overview
As a Direct Entry Captain on the Embraer 195, you will assume command of one of our state-of-the-art regional jets. We welcome both type-rated (TR) and non-type-rated (NTR) applicants; successful NTR candidates will complete SAS’s in-house Embraer 195 Type Rating course prior to line training.
Key Responsibilities
- Exercise full command and responsibility for flight operations, safety, and crew management
- Conduct pre-flight planning, weather assessment, and performance calculations
- Collaborate closely with First Officers, Cabin Crew, and Flight Operations Control
- Ensure adherence to all SOPs, company policies, and applicable aviation regulations (EASA, JAA, etc.)
- Mentor and develop junior officers through line training duties (as assigned)
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, safety audits, and operational excellence
Minimum Qualifications
- Licence & Ratings
- EASA ATPL (frozen or unfrozen) / ICAO equivalent
- Valid Class 1 Medical Certificate
- Experience
- ≥ 5,000 hours total time, with ≥ 2,500 hours PIC on multi-crew turbine-powered aircraft
- For TR applicants: ≥ 500 hours on Embraer 190/195 family
- Technical & Regulatory
- Excellent working knowledge of EASA regulations and company SOPs
- Proficiency in English (ICAO Level 4 or above)
- Personal Attributes
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and CRM skills
- High standard of professionalism and customer service orientation
Preferred (Desirable) Qualifications
- Experience in Northern European operations (winter operations, short-fields)
- Proven track record in cross-crew emergency procedures and upset recovery
- Prior line training or instructor experience
- Additional language skills (Swedish, Danish, Norwegian)
Training & Onboarding
- Type-Rated (TR) Captains: Refresher course on SAS-specific procedures and fleet-common systems.
- Non-Type-Rated (NTR) Captains: Enroll in SAS’s Embraer 195 Type Rating course, followed by MCC, OPST, and line training modules.

Minimum requirements
- Unrestricted EASA ATPL (A)
- Medical Class 1
- Instrument rating
- ICAO English Level 5 or 6
- Height of at least 157cm
- Unrestricted right to live and work in the EU
Flight time requirements
- 4,000 total flight hours, including 250 hours as PIC or PICUS
or
- 3,500 total flight hours, including 500 hours as PIC on aircraft with MTOW > 16T
or
- 3,000 total flight hours, including 1,000 hours as PIC on aircraft with MTOW > 16T
