Two concerts same day. Different countries.

What an incredible feat! Phil Collins’ double performance at Live Aid 1985 remains one of the most legendary moments in music history. Here’s a quick recap of how he pulled it off:

  • Performed in London (Wembley Stadium) at 2 PM with Sting.
  • Rushed via helicopter to Heathrow Airport and boarded the Concorde (the supersonic jet that could cross the Atlantic in just 3 hours).
  • Attempted a live audio link from the Concorde to the Philadelphia concert (though it had technical issues).
  • Landed in New York, took another helicopter to Philadelphia’s JFK Stadium.
  • Performed with Eric Clapton, then did a solo set.
  • Finally, reunited Led Zeppelin (with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, and himself on drums) for their first performance since 1980.

This logistical miracle was only possible thanks to the speed of the Concorde, meticulous planning, and Collins’ willingness to push the limits.

Fun Fact: Collins is the only artist to have played both Live Aid concerts on the same day—a record that will likely never be broken!
